To commemorate Kobe Bryant's historic 81 point game, Nike has created [Why81.com] and the Why81 Scavenger Hunt. Similar to the LeBron China Scavenger Hunt, the Why81 Scavenger Hunt consists of four secret locations, beginning at the Staples Center in LA, that must be visited in order to purchase one of 81 pairs of a "historic limited edition anniversary shoe for $81". The countdown to the day of the 81 point Game Anniversary, Jan.21st, has begun on Why81.com as well.
Here is an exerpt from [Why81.com]:
The first 80 participants to finish visiting and obtaining stamps at
all four locations on the Passport will have the opportunity to
purchase a historic limited edition anniversary shoe. All participates
will have the chance to receive special Nike prizes and are welcome to
attend the WHY81 Final event.
Insurance, all expenses and incidentals not mentioned above are the
responsibility of each winner. No substitution or transfer of prize or
cash redemption is permitted, but Sponsor may at its option substitute
cash value or another prize it believes is of equal or greater value.
Taxes, if any, are the responsibility of each winner.
4. HOW DO I WIN?
The first 80 participants to complete the scavenger event, visiting all
locations and obtaining stamps in their Passport, will have the
opportunity to purchase the historic limited edition anniversary shoe
for $81. The number of eligible entries received will determine odds of
winning an opportunity to purchase the historic limited edition shoe.
5. HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I WON?
Each prize winner will be notified immediately on site, and will have
the opportunity to purchase the Limited Edition Zoom Kobe 1 for $81.
Any potential prize winner who declines to purchase the shoes
immediately, has violated any of these Official Rules, or is found to
be ineligible will be disqualified and an alternative potential prize
winner shall be chosen (the next person in line). Each potential prize
winner (or a potential winner’s parent or legal guardian if the
potential prize winner is a minor in the jurisdiction in which they
reside) will be required to sign and return a Declaration and Release
upon purchase of the shoes. If a minor wins the prize, the prize will
be awarded in the name of the minor’s parent or legal guardian who
executes all required paperwork on the minor’s behalf. Each winner (or
parent or legal guardian on behalf of the minor and him/herself)
releases Sponsor, their affiliated companies and all employees, agents,
and representatives from all liability and responsibility of any kind
which is related in any way to the prize (including without limitation
any property loss, damage, personal injury or death) and consent to the
use of their names and likenesses for advertising and promotional
purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by
law.
