Who Deserves Their Own Sig....That Would Actually Sell?

Who Deserves their Own Sig

Dwyane Wade moving over to JB got us thinking about who else in the NBA deserves their own signature that would actually sell. There are plenty of players that deserve their own sig based on stats alone, but, which player deserves a signature based on stats that also possesses the qualities that would actually help sell the sneaker? The image above will help jog your memory of players that don’t have their own sig or a sneaker directly associated with them (e.g. Flight Club/Tony Parker, Zoom MVP/Steve Nash, Spot Up/Dirk) but there are probably plenty of other players not pictured that you may feel deserve their own sig. Note: We did not include any of the adidas players because even though they don’t have their own sig, their signatures are part of the Team Signature adidas series.

So, who deserves their own sig and why? Leave your choice in the comments.

Definately my man B-Roy (Brandon Roy) He was rookie of the year and is a two time all star. Who doesn't love Brandon Roy. I think Pau Gasol would be a good big man shoe if he had his own sig.

  • jr_lyon

OHHHH Wait!!!! RAY ALLEN!!!! WHO WOULDN'T BUY AN AIR JORDAN SUGAR RAY!!!! THAT WOULD BE SICK!!!!!!

  • kalifornia_kd

I think its good the way it is none of the people pictured would sell i like the players having there own colorway of a shoe but none really would sell on there own...

maybe D Will or B- Roy but thats its

  • Quentho

Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, and Nate Rob

  • youngsmilez

none of these guys would sell

  • Jim

ok first off a few of these guys are with adidas already, turk/smith to start, and iggy shard or nate would probably do best because of stats/ location and just colorway of team!

  • http://sprfls.blogspot.com The Spirit of Mars B

If anything, the world needs FEWER signature shoes.

  • T

    Joe Johnson

  • Deeteezee

Deron, Roy, Granger, G. Wallace, Rose, Griffin,

  • me

none of them. sure theyre good players but i signature shold be for GREAT players. I feel like anyone who makes an allstar team consistently now gets a sig.

KOBE and LEBRON deserve it right now. thats it. theyve changed the game.

  • Jay-Jay

    B-Roy #1

  • jkfe

i would have to agree with some and say none of them deserve a sig......only the elite superstars should get it.

  • hitosimon

of course it is ***Ray Allen***. who else has stronger heart and better shooting skill??? tell me. you can't even count how many buzzer beater he had made to save his team.

  • SolefulOne

None of these players are worthy of a signature shoe. Their game has to be consistent and exceptional and their personalities have to be complex. While these cat can ball, they are not at that point yet. Kobe, LeBron, Melo and D Wade have the game a desire to establish themselves as brands and players. The product itself has to be marketable. Basketball shoes are unique b/c you can wear them on and off the court. Tiger Woods is the largest sports icon worldwide, but golf shoes aren't worn off the links. He will never have the success MJ had or LeBron will when it comes to sales.

  • rod

none. 1/2 of the above are nearing or +30 and all aren't top tier players with all around game.

  • TechNutt

I agree with most of the comments on here. I was thinking about who could sell shoes. I think possibly Nate Robinson ..... maybe B Roy. Another player for sure that should have his own sig is Derrick Rose .... more than anyone right now. I think you have to take into account for superstardom but also player explosiveness and excitement. People have to want to copp the shoes the player wears. Rose is going to be HUGE!

No Ray Allen, No Joe Johnson, No Nash, No Rashard, No Rip, No Dirk, No Deron Williams, No Granger. These players don't do those exciting things on a consistent basis that warrant the shoes to be highly coveted; however, they are super solid players. I aint taking that away.

Lastly, LOL@ Rips beard. What a fool .... looking like Kimbo Slice. (btw, welcome to the UFC in Ultimate Fighter, Kimbo .... I'll be looking for you to shut the mma critics up)

  • wisco kid

Sugar Ray, Birdman, Nate and D-Rose for SURE...rest of those guys are lames.

im not even sayin the bird and kryptonate deserve one, but they would sell really well sooooo....

  • mike.p

i think brandon roy, rashard lewis, and manu ginobli could all hold down successful sig shoes. think about nike. peace

  • http://www.atbboston.com D

If with the right company and marketed right I'd say Dwight Howard.

    • jr_lyon

Dwight Howard already is signed with Adidas and he has a signature shoe!

  • Ron

Get Rose young like they did with MJ

  • big man

d will should get his own shoe, i think ray allen should have had his own shoe for a while now but hes look at the end of his career now so i dont think he should get one now i think b roy, devin harris will eventually get their own shoes

  • BGPlya

Chris "Birdman" Andersen. prob wouldn't sell but I think I would buy them as a joke.

I think Hedo needs a shoe. he's pretty danm good

  • http://AOL LG

Steph Curry and Derrick Rose and Brandon Roy deserve sigs

  • David DelFarno

    ANTOINE WALKER.

    THE 4 POINTERS.

  • da1roo

    d.rose, b roy,d howard

  • G

Dee-ron...he fries...give em his own sneaks...he has the sickest crossover in the league

  • Patrick Chewing

    Ray Allen

  • poppsdaboss

For sure Ray Allen. I would cop Sugar Ray Jordans and I don't even like the color green.

  • the big ticket

i think alot players ther deserve sig. kicks and there games hav or will deserve it but alot of the players belong to mediocre teams which wouldnt b very successful marketin wife if had to pick

Rose(not ther deserves um) Harris, granger, johnson, bosh

  • http://jumpman23.com LeBron Siron

Joe Johnson all the way baby !!!!!!!!

  • http://jumpman23.com LeBron Siron

oh yeah and chicago's home town hero, my man D. Rose!!!! I;m not a huge Adiadas fan but I'd cop those

  • Jonathan

    SUGAR RAY ALLEN OF COURSE!!!

  • dantheman

def DAVID LEE who wouldnt buy some fresh LEE's????????

  • http://upperthinking.com/blog hamid

    Ron Artest

  • stefboy

ANTOINE WALKER is a f***ing bum he ow ever body money no one wats a fat old washed up players shoe David DelFarno i say u need to be kicked of this site for a dum answer like that and i say nate rob

  • Carl_the _truth

None of them do. Signature shoes are for dominant players. No one up there fits that category.

  • Theute44

    One Name... BIRDMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

  • Matt

    The Goods Lamar Odom

  • bball8star

    BRANDON ROY!

  • 19ers

this is about sellin shoes baby, not whos the best player, so we'll say nate has generated enough hype to sell a few shoes. birdman would bring in a nice lil chunk of change too

  • Nike Champ 718

Eddy Curry. Air Bums. Soft cushion. Soft upper. Soft ankle support.

  • Team Mike 206

Brandon Roy on talent and marketability

Nate Robinson for winning the dunk contest in the Kryptonates

Last time I checked there were people lined up around the block for the Kryptonates

  • dat kidd

it would brob be b roy, griffin or rose not many more people would sell

  • geegee

Lakers players don't need their own sigs, they just need to keep wearing ZK's

  • dtroyt

I think B-Roy and D Williams deserve it..the only prob is that both of them don't have personalities to sell..

If anything, Nike can do a " light skinned brothers are back" campaign. With a Drake track in the ad.

    • Nike Champ 718

LOL. Have Al B Sure and Kid of Kid N Play in the commercials.

  • E. Pierce

Honestly none of these guys deserve their own shoe. None of them are marketable enough to get one. The only two that come close are Ginobli & Johnson, but Ginobli on the back end of his career b/c of injuries, and Johnson is inconsistent!

  • http://www.eric32woodyard.wordpress.com Eric Woodyard

Rip Hamilton and Brandon Roy! They would both make hot sig sneaks!!

  • ripochet

None of these dudes have any charisma, on or off the court. LEBRON cant even sell sneakers right now. Not in the JORDAN sense of selling them, anyway. Charisma. That's what sells shoes, not stats.

  • Suave

RAY ALLEN AkA Jesus definitely needs his own Sneaker. His Swag on the court is crazy and who wouldnt want to buy a pair of Ray Allen's.

  • indy_kid

Ya boy Danny Granger definitely needs his own shoe. 5th in the league in scoring last season and most improved player. He's a beast and people dont recognize this cus his team didnt make the playoffs. My second pick would be B-roy cus he is also a beast but not as good as D. Granger. Ray allen would also be a good pick tho.

  • jr_lyon

You people that have mentioned Dwight Howard are f*cking idiots, he is not even in the picture and he has his own signature TS shoe with Adidas. Some of you people are STUPID!!!

  • rim

    Take it easy jr.

  • http://west147.com Ahmad Hooper

Absolutely: NATE ROBINSON call them ROBINSON-UPPS!!!

  • yung tai

Deron williams, has tha nicest game in tha league who shoe would sell in tha suburbs and in tha hood jus as long as the shoe is hot.

  • NV

    ROY

  • Darren P

    Danny Granger

  • DonSneakers

hard to say which one.....but if its a hot shoe its goin to sell regardless of who it is

  • Justin C

    Brandon Roy

  • HyperdunkMan

Nate Robinson, I could see Nike giving him a nice ill looking shoe...i mean look at the kryptonates =)

  • Tres

Blake Griffin, hands down he'd be the biggest seller.

  • Bruce Wayne

Birdman's signature would probably look like it was made by Ed Hardy.

  • http://kixandthecity.com nate robinson

Nate robinson .... blake griffin? fck outta here they dnt even call him by 1 name

    example

    kobe

    lebron

    wade

    nate

    niggas kno who they are

blake who da fck is dat

  • scott

hands down ray allen, every single pair of jays that he throws on are So dope. he deff deserves some signature shoes...jus my opinion

  • JB

There is only one sure fire hall of famer on that list. Jesus Shuttlesworth deserved the sig, unfortunatly it is too late in his career for that to happen. Played most of his career in Milwakee and Seattle, so there was little chance of that happening. Broy and Dwill, yet to be seen, but nike could pick up a sig for Broy if the Blazers start to become a consistant contender over the next couple years. Both could go to the hall if they win more than one championship.

Bdiddy might have held the most mass appeal of anyone on this list... I know he jumped from Reebok to Li Ning...not sure if they gave him a sig over in China. His time too has passed, as is obvious by that move and the Clippers last season.

  • JB

Similar to the TP, nash and Dirk situations, Ray Allen has been the flagship athlete for some Jordan Models. The Team Strong was directly associated with him(hang tags bore his picture and information.) I belive he exclusivley wore a pair of shoes durring last years playoffs, the name of which I cannot recall. Jordan testing to see if he could push that model, I remeber reading something wherehe talked about it. Manu has consistantly flagshiped a $65 sneaker for nike over the last 3-4 years, he is listed as the signature athlete for the model and sells them well overseas.

  • jath

    none of the above.

the days of signature models are dead.

  • portuguese man o war

    B.Roy

  • Tru2thegame

Hands down, I would have to say D. Williams. The reason being is because if you all remember seeing his footage on footlocker he talks about the appreciation of the shoe game and how it is apart of his culture on and off of the court. Next, I would have 2 say B. Roy because I seen some of his PE's and they are crazy. Take it for what it's worth but I feel like they are the two players who are worthy of having a signature shoe at this time!

  • brad

Ray Allen , if he gets his sig . it WILL be as big as penny

  • indy_kid

Even though he's not on the list i think ERIC GORDON deserves his own shoe. They could be called the AIR GORDONS. He is a beast and personally i think he's better than derrick rose a player who went to a already decent team. Gordon will also outshine Griffin next season on the Clippers. Don't sleep on him he will be a household name soon.

  • ji

    Roy definitely!

  • ramo5575

david lee, yes david lee the double double kid great rebounder like rodman aka the worm he had his sig shoe, plus can't go wrong with the blue & orange & white colorway!

  • Kash Jr.

Nate Robinson. I think he's pretty marketable

  • zaf

Turk should deff get it every won buy his kicks cuz last game I went to one of his game n it was all sold out with turkish ppl u no wat that means all the turkish ppl are all gonna buy 10 kicks n go to turkey n sell them for more so his deff making the money 100000000000% on that

  • lovemyjays

    Brandon Roy and Danny Granger.

  • Biz5950

Ray is the only one who deserves his on shoe and it would sell, but i believe if Nate, B Roy,and Joe Johnson had a shoe it would sell.
