Reebok The Pump Retro

Reebok The Pump Retro

2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the Reebok Pump. A cutting edge technology at the time, despite the fact you would be hard pressed to find a Reebok Pump on the court anymore, the Pump system will forever be a part of Basketball/sneaker culture thanks in part to Dee Brown's memorable run in the NBA Dunk contest.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pump, Reebok is bringing back the original Reebok The Pump high top. Different from the Pump sneakers like the Omni Light and Court Victory, which are still popular on the street today, the original Pump featured an extremely high cut, which was popular on the court at the time, and an air release valve on the heel, as opposed to on the tongue.

In addition to bringing back the Reebok The Pump, Reebok is working with 20 brands around the world to collaborate on their own Reebok Pump sneaker. The Pump20, as the campaign is called, will start to rollout soon at select retailers.
