The pride of NYC Basketball, Stephon Marbury, has developed his own line of basketball sneakers dubbed the "Starbury". The goal of the "Starbury" line of sneakers is to provide young athletes with a quality, low cost alternative to the traditionally expensive Basketball sneaker. The first sneaker from this line, the "Starbury One" is set to release on August 17th at Steve & Barry's shops nationwide. The "Starbury One" will carry a retail tag of $14.98.

14.98.......dats about the right price i waz expecting 4 deez shoes.
I think the shoe Idea is great. I will support it. Not because I cannot go and pay for a pair of Jordans but because . You don't have to spend alot to look good. You have to Play alot to be the best. IT's not the shoe it's the person
Good for steph. Those shoes actually don't look half bad.
its about time someone came up with this idea and thanks steph you are doing the right thing. All the mikes and the adidas are made on the back of other poor folks then they turn around and pressure the poor communities for hundreds of dollars so I think will buy 10 of yours before I buy one Jordan
kudos to Marbury, what a great idea. count me in for a pair. will they available via mail order?
I'm buying 4 pair opening weekend on principal. We need to get the message out that the era of corporate greed and windfall profits is over. We all know it don't take $100 to produce a good pair of kicks. It's nothing wrong with making a profit, but, when you know it cost about $12 to make a single pair of Jordans then you see them being sold for (and bought by people who trying to do something to make themselves draw positive attention) $100, $150 or $200 you've gotta know something is wrong with that picture.
We all need to wake up and Marbury's doing the right thing and I hope others do the same.
Found a video of the shoe on youtube

props to steph for this. about time someone stepped up and show the kids a different approach on a business tip.
Great, great great!
Mr. Marbury, this is great, I wish you all the best, you are giving back to those who watch you and want to model after you...Thanks for the moral, logical shot-in-the arm. Parents appreciate you!
I applaud Stephon for this. It's about time a currently playing athlete shows some concern for those who can't afford to "Be Like Mike" regarding those expensive sneakers. I am reaching out to all of my friends with young kids who might want these sneakers. It will be my treat for their back to school shopping! I predict these sneakers will sell out!!!!!!
I wonder what all the NBA players who sell sneaks are gonna do now?
I always liked Stephon, but I'm really feeling Stephon now!
Way to go Stephon, YOU HAVE ROCKED THE BOAT NOW!
ROCK IT BABY!
Iwould like to echo many of the sentiments expressed on this page. It is about time someone stepped up in a big way to give something back to the community. A lot of athletes give money and that's cool but by also wearing the sneakers Marbury will make a much bigger statement about corporate greed and the affects on the culture from which he came.
Big up Steph!! Keep doing you.
I will support Marbury and these sneakers! Not just because they are inexpensive -- because its a great idea! And its really needed for single parents like myself. My 13 year old son wanted Air Force ones but Im going to encourage he take a serious look at these sneakers. You can tell this concept was not based on greed but need. Thank-you
Thank you Starbury!! I always thought people who brag about $180 shoes you can't wear to an important meeting or nice restaurant should get their priorities straight.

Hey Stephon. I'm not a big fan of the knicks but dude this idea about affordable active wear is great! Especially the kicks. There are a lot of young ballers out here man who just cannot afford those expensive as HELL sneaks. Big ups to you dude. Any team that has a man like you on it has got me watching a little bit more. God bless man. Keep thinking about us man. If more people would reach down and get us a lot more of us would come up. Ya know!
Stephon, I'm so proud of you...The way you have handled yourself last year was awesome. Thanks for giving back...The sneakers are AWESOME LOOKING $15.00 The sneaker company should be ashame of themeselves.

these shoes are a right price but there kinda bad looking
I think these shoes and the whole apparel line in association with S&B show that Mr. Marbury is conscious of the world around him. It shows that he truly cares about the people that come from lower income areas just like coney island. The whole line looks professional, not tacky. The quality is fantastic and the styles are definitely on point. Although I am a slave to the look and feel of Jordan and nike apparel and shoes, I will still support the Starbury movement because I believe that what he and Magic Johnson are both doing is very admireable and way overdue. Godd job and keep up the good work.
DEAR MR MAUBURY, THANKS A LOT FOR BEING A GOOD PERSON. THERE ARE A LOT OF PARENTS THAT WORK SO HARD TO MAKE ENDS MEET.THESE SHOES ARE GREAT.I BOUGHT 2 PAIR , AND I LOVE THEM. THEY ARE COMFORTABLE, AND FIT GOOD. I WILL BE GOING BACK TO S&B'S TO BUY SOME FOR MY TWO SONS.THE PRICE IS AWSOME.MAY GOD BLESS YOU."""" A NEW FAN""""
good work steph! thanks for the awakening. let the revolution begin...
garbage. dod not see much cushioning and i am in business so yeah shoes are over priced but when you do not have much of a spread $15 for retail...how much tech is actually going into the shoe? just my 2 cents. i am not saying it is great to pay 130 for kicks but i take quality over quantity anyday of the week and wearing a leather version of a chuck taylor is not what i have in mind!
