Original Nike Air Mag (aka Back to the Future McFly) Hits the Auction Block

The ORIGINAL Nike Air Mag as worn by Michael J. Fox in the movie Back to the Future II has hit the auction block. By now you know the story behind these as the Nike Air Mag may just be the most talked about sneaker ever. The Nike Air Mag that has been put up for auction is the sneaker that Nike designed for Fox to walk around in. If you know your history of the Air Mag, a couple of Air Mags were created with this pair being created for Fox to actually walk around in on set and in the movie.

According to the auction listing:

“(Universal, 1989) This custom made Nike shoe was worn by Michael J. Fox as “Marty McFly” in Back to the Future II. When Doc Brown and Marty arrive in the year 2015, Doc asks Marty to put on clothes similar to Marty Jr. To help him pass for a contemporary teenager, Doc Brown gives Marty the latest in high-tech outerwear. The first thing he puts on is the self-lacing future Nikes. This particular shoe was specifically made for walking around. Original future Nike 2015 self-lacing shoes are extremely rare and one of the most sought-after props from one of the most iconic Sci-Fi movies ever made.”

The Nike Air Mag is currently valued at $12,000-$15,000 as per the auction.
