Today Nike, Jordan Brand, and Converse held their media summit for this Summer’s World Basketball Festival and Summer/Fall 2010 Product tied to the World Basketball Festival. Now before I jump into the massive World Basketball Festival event, we’ll start off by taking a look at the product that was unveiled at the summit.
For Nike’s product portion, the Swoosh unveiled several pieces of World Basketball/Summer footwear including, the Nike Hyperfuse. The Nike Hyperfuse design is inspired by the outdoor hoops played in China where the heat and causes players to play in mesh based running sneakers to stay cool. The Hyperfuse takes the idea of staying cool to another level with a three part heat pressed layer system that creates a seamless, ultra breathable, and ultra lightweight upper. The Hyperfuse composite system offers a superior stability layer, a breathable mesh layer, and a durable outer skin layer that combine to give footwear new strength, breathability and lightweight (at roughly 12.5 ounces for a size 9). The sneaker also features Nike Zoom Air in the forefoot. The Nike Hyperfuse is set to release this Summer, starting in July, and will be one of the main pieces of footwear for Nike partner teams during the World Basketball Festival and the FIBA International Games.
