Oct 28, 2008 | Comments 13

Earlier today, Nike held a press conference to unveil their upcoming Nike Considered Spring 2009 product line. Nike Considered "combine(s) sustainability principles with the newest innovations for sport" through "products that minimize environmental impact by reducing waste throughout the design and development process, use environmentally preferred materials, and eliminate toxics."
As part of their Spring 2009 Considered product line, Nike is set to launch the Nike Huarache 2009 which features Nike Considered construction.
The Nike Huarache 2009 is a Nike Considered Design product because:
•The Huarache performance basketball shoe uses Environmentally Preferred Materials (EPMs), with a high recycled content, wherever possible.
•The stitching details and embroidery create structural support, eliminating the need for excessive overlays, embellishments and backing materials.
•A smarter pattern design allowed for a cutting efficiency of 70 percent on the upper, substantially reducing waste.
Although the Huarache 09 features Nike Considered construction, the sneaker will continue to uphold the performance principles that are associated with the Nike Huarache line. The Nike Huarache 2009 features Zoom Air, a lightweight breathable upper, a Phylon midsole, and a directional herringbone outsole.
