Knicks fans know the story all too well. In 1978, the New York Knicks selected Michael Ray Richardson over Larry Bird, starting a long couple of decades for the franchise and their fans. Richardson was talented, and billed as the next Walt “Clyde” Frazier, but he and the Knicks could not produce during his short stint with the team. Richardson would eventually end up in Golden State in a deal the brought Bernard King to the Knicks, who would later go down with a career ending knee injury, and then the Nets where he helped topple the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Richardson, his career would be cut short due to his lifetime ban from the NBA for failing numerous drug tests.
In a nod to what could have been for the Knicks and the Richardson’s career, Nike is set to release the Michael Sugar Ray Richardson Nike Sky Force Low tomorrow, June 13th, at the House of Hoops. The Sugar Ray Nike Sky Force Low features a pearly White patent leather upper that is “sugar coated” with Gold glitter on the laces, the tongue, the heel, and on the clear outsole.
The Sugar Ray Nike Sky Force Low is a HOH exclusive.
