When Tinker Hatfield first designed the Nike Air Max 90, it was the pinnacle of running performance. The sneaker’s mesh toe box, outsole grooves, and Max Air unit made for a great ride. Nearly 20 years later, the Air Max 90 has been eclipsed by decades of performance research and has become more of a casual lifestyle sneaker than a serious runner. In 2009, Nike has set out to prove that the timeless silhouette still has a good run left by making performance enhancements while keeping the overall look and feel of the style. During the Summer of 2009, Nike is set to release several Air Max styles, including the Nike Air Max 90 Moire, that feature perforated uppers or large hole mesh panels that improve upon the Air Max 90’s breathability. The colorways are simple and reminscent of the OG Air Max 90 line
