KATC Video Feature Tinker Hatfiled and Mark Smith Breakdown the Air Jordan 2010

Last week, I got the chance to sit down with Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith at the Jordan Brand Silver Anniversary Air Jordan 2010 Press Event in order to get a full detailed technological breakdown of the Air Jordan 2010. In this two part video interview, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith, the two designers behind the Air Jordan 2010, breakdown the Air Jordan 2010 from top to bottom and inside and out from a very detailed and intricate technological standpoint.

maybe its me, but it seems like they were just making up stuff as they were going along...

  2. gameface1326 says:

They cut back on costs and made a bulls.hit shoe. I agree with MisterMcfly23, seems they were making this up since there isnt anything special about the shoe.

They really s.hit the bed, SHAME

  3. Younghovaj says:

If they cut back on the cost, why don't they pass that along to the consumer? cuz they are a s s holes! & this shoe is what ever! "Thermo Plastic window" so u can look in the players soul! he couldn't have beeen serious when he said that!

  4. max says:

every thing about the shoe is good except for the window which ruined it

  5. Batman says:

They put a bunch of sh*t together. The end.

  6. BIG BANK says:

I don't care if GOD himself broke down these kicks they are GARBAGE! What a joke!

  7. Jra-lyfe says:

U know after hearing these guys talk and seeing more pix of these..I'm actually starting to consider buying these..if they hit da sales racks for 40 bucks and das just to ball because they clearly explain how cheap these guys are and they cut soo many cost and cut out so many useless parts but they still sell da Dam shoe for 175??? Get da hell outa here leme just stick to retros...even tho they've been coming on cheap material too

  8. greg ballin says:

i think they look ok but its just put together so cheaply, its to light for a jordan shoe and they look to plain. ill have to make a instore decision with these in my hand, then try them on before i buy

  9. Allday playa says:

i saw the 2k9 for 80 bucks in the outlet and people still WONT BUY IT!

these loook waaaaay worse than the 2k9!!!

if nike would try to give these away for free i still am not lining up for these!! JB just wasted another year!!!!!!1

  10. TRONTEKKA says:

i beg the differ on the 2k9 in white, get nicer buy the months and i bought a pair for 50 bucks lol it is nice when its that cheap.

  11. Max says:

This looks like a cheap combo of the Zoom Kobe IV and the Air Max LeBron VII. I know JB and Nike are now "separate" divisions, but to me it just looks like they stole both designs. The outsole profile looks way too similar to the Zoom Kobe IV, and if I'm not mistaken this shoe even uses that heel counter that the Kobe's used. It's like ZK4 lower, and AMLB7 upper. I'm disappointed to know that Tinker was a part of this project, because he used to design classic-timeless sneakers, and now he's collaborating on generic stuff like this. It's nice to know that Nike--with Kobe and LeBron--are still dedicating their time and effort to developing cutting edge technology, while still remaining incredibly stylish. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the same can be said for Jordan Brand. It looks like the shoes have followed in the path of MJ's post-career life.

  12. Harlem World says:

You would think Tinker and Mark Smith would look a "little" more happier or at least excited to a fake degree in explaining their product? Good thing they're not out there selling autos or homes to consumers, geez guys drink some coffee and wake up. I'm just saying. If I worked at Jordan Brand in ANY department I don't care I would be promoting the company in the best way possible. But this isn't about shoe designers acting as salesmen I know.

The shoe itself seems great technologically, meaning, total Air Zoom(tm) under the entire foot, separated toe box piece aside from the shoe, light weight, yadda yadda BUT that porthole circle TPU design on the side gets me every time, I'm so unattracted to that design element! "IF" i ever buy these (on clearance) I'll be sure to wear baggy jeans to cover up most of the shoe and wear it strictly for comfort. An all black colorway would be nice too, hence, Jordan's "Black Cat" nickname. Watch for that to follow.

Will I buy this? On clearance.
Will I try it on? Sure. Walk around the store for 2 minutes and give it back.
But thanks to KATC for sharing this video with us!
I'd like to donate some money to the program because you just saved me $170!
    :)

  13. UniteUs says:

wut goes up, must come down.

  14. Lem says:

It seemed as if they were surprised by the interview. Seemed to be taken off gaurd and just talked about the shoe off the cuff. There was no enthusiasm about the product either. Could be due to the release event and just tired of talking about the same thing.

  15. Jay-Jay says:

Everyone should not buy any new jordans untill they lower their prices. 170 dollars for a pair of shoes? Thats ridiculous, i bet to make one of those pairs of shoes it cost JB 70 bucks. That means that they're making a 100 dollar profit on a ****** shoe. That shouldn't happen.

  16. csole says:

Blah Blah..so it can fit better? Just tie your laces tight that'll take care of that! Couldve designed it better..the window shoulve been on the toungue of the shoe on on the side like a huge peep hole...the bottom sole is sooo plain with no colors..they took no time designing these at all and they are running out of ideas. Air Yeezys look better then these!

  17. momodark says:

    The definition of winging it

  18. misosoup says:

I think it's a totally bs, looks ugly & cheap specially with that side clear plastic windows, nothing new and its not new technology, outsole so thin that's not gonna be durable & last long. Like someone mentioned before, they seems making things up, design is nothing special with no meaning, that's just the worse jordan ever made.

  19. shawndoh says:

very curious to see if the attitude or the shoe came first. like most of us, i expect more from these guys. i wonder if they got overruled on this shoe, which often happens to designers. they want one thing and company politics and cutbacks dictate another. curious indeed.

  20. jeff says:

Super fresh. Y'all have no imagination. If Mike were wearing them, you'd be bout it.
