During the Nike Zoom Kobe V Media Summit in LA, I got the chance to sit down with with Nike Zoom Kobe V designers Eric Avar and Matt Nurse. In this video feature feature, Eric Avar breaks down the Nike Zoom Kobe V from a technical and aesthetics perspective while Matt Nurse, breaks down the research behind the design of the sneaker.

I love to hear other designers speak eloquently about what they've created -- especially when it's something beautiful. Eric Avar has been on a roll. His resume now includes the Hyperdunk, Kobe IV and now the V's. He is creating the new design language for modern athletic footwear. If I could pick someone to design my sig shoe, it would be Eric not Tinker. I can't wait to see what else he's got up his sleeve.

Actually, ABZ4, I'm 36 years old so I'm far from a kid. That means I'm old enough to remember the whole sneaker craze jumping off in the early eighty's and I've been along for the ride ever since. I know that, when it comes to sneaker design, Tinker is the "Blueprint" much like Mike -- but who is the leader in sneaker design innovation TODAY? Apparently it's not Tinker -- it's Eric. You need look no further than the last couple of Jordans Tinker has been involved with. Compare that with what Eric has produced of late (not just the 3 I mentioned earlier but his entire body of work, look it up) and IMO Eric is the new hotness. In short, I'm not dissing Tinker, I just think the baton has been passed to Eric. Now, nowhere in this reply or in my original statement did I mention Kobe or his greatness. In fact, you did. I'm merely discussing the sneakers. I'd also like to add that maybe you should see a psychologist. You obviously have some issues that need sorting out.
