Air Force 25th: Upcoming Air Force 1 Tier-Zero Presentation Pix/Video

    In late October, Nike invited KATC to a very elaborate media event dedicated to the Air Force 1 25th Anniversary. As part of this event, Nike previewed several of their upcoming offerings tied to the 25th Anniversary of the Air Force 1 including the “Original Six Series“, the “New Six Series“, the Air Force 25, and a portion of Nike’s upcoming Tier-Zero Air Force product. To introduce the Air Force Tier-Zero product, Nike designers Fraser Cooke and Jesse Leyva provided the media on hand with an in depth look at the upcoming “Premium Basics Line”. Air Force 25th: Nike “One Night Only Celebration”, Part II

    Not to be overshadowed by the legendary music performance of Nas, Kanye West, Rakim, and KRS-One, the Nike Air Force 1 itself made a historic appearance once again at the Nike “One Night Only Celebration”. Encased in large lighted “HoneyComb” displays, 1,040 unique pairs of Nike Air Force 1s, the largest collection ever assembled in one location, surrounded the the 400+ attendees. These 1,040 pairs featured a wide range of Air Force 1s including never released samples, upcoming releases, ultra limited 1 of x pairs, released pairs, original pairs, player exclusives, and more.   Of the 1,040 pairs on display, 100 pairs were designated and marked, by a group of long time AF1 aficionados including DJ Clark Kent, DJ EMZ, Udi Avshalom (Training Camp), and Bobbito Garcia, as the top 100 pairs of AF1s ever created. Air Force 25th: Nike “One Night Only Celebration”, Part I

    Nike officially rung in the 25th Anniversary of the Air Force 1 last night, Dec. 10th, with a gigantic extravaganza at Gotham Hall in NYC. Entitled the “One Night Only Celebration”, the event brought out a long list of celebrities including Spike Lee, Busta Rhymes, Styles P, Jadakiss, Eddy Curry, Nate Robinson, Quentin Richardson, Paul Pierce, Rasheed Wallace, Bobbito Garcia, Bun B, DJ Clue, DJ Clark Kent, Bobby Jones, Grand Master Caz, Mario, Ciarra, and many, many more. In addition to the celebrites, several important figures in sneaker culture attended the event as well including Stash, Futura, jeffstaple, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Haze, Dave Ortiz, Mr. Cartoon, Sandy Boedecker, Bruce Kilgore (AF1 Original Designer), Mark Parker (Nike CEO) and again, many others. As the Air Force 1 made history when it was first introduced 25 years ago, Nike again made history last night, only this time, through music. Air Force 25th: Air Force 1 “New Six” Series

    Continuing the tradition laid before them by the “Original Six” players, six new NBA players have come together with Nike to create a series of Air Force 1s set to release in 2007. Players include Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Tony Parker, Amare Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace, and LeBron James. Each of the “New Six” kix feature very premium materials, keen crafstmanship, a translucent midsole exposing visible air in the heel unit, and a laser portrait of the representing player on the heel.   Click Continue Reading for More

KATCali Feature: DunkxChange LA/Anaheim

    Last week KATC ventured out of NYC on a cross country field trip to California. In addition to looking forward to the 85+ degree weather, we also sought to learn more about sneaker culture on the West Coast. Our first stop out West lead us to the DunkxChange LA/Anaheim held at the House of Blues Disney Land. After two stops in NYC, the DXC was back in its hometown where the event consistently attracts a large crowd of eager sneaker enthusiasts. A bit different than the NYC DXCs, KATC was on hand to snap several pix, as well as, get a good look into “So. KATC Feature: Ari Lankin x Adidas Adicolor High

    In keeping with the theme of designing/coloring your own kix with the launch of their Adicolor project back in March, Adidas created a design contest whereby artists would utilize a blank Adicolor High and the Adicolor marker/paint set to create an original sneaker design in hopes of becoming the next Adicolor Partner (collaborator). After the votes from an open public pole on the Adicolor website were tallied, the design submitted by artist Ari Lankin of NYC was declared the winner, garnering over 12,000 votes. As the last Adicolor Partner, Ari’s design has made its way onto 25 Adicolor Highs set to release TOMORROW, Oct. 28th, at the Adidas Originals Store in NYC.
