Not to be overshadowed by the legendary music performance of Nas, Kanye West, Rakim, and KRS-One, the Nike Air Force 1 itself made a historic appearance once again at the Nike “One Night Only Celebration”. Encased in large lighted “HoneyComb” displays, 1,040 unique pairs of Nike Air Force 1s, the largest collection ever assembled in one location, surrounded the the 400+ attendees. These 1,040 pairs featured a wide range of Air Force 1s including never released samples, upcoming releases, ultra limited 1 of x pairs, released pairs, original pairs, player exclusives, and more.

Of the 1,040 pairs on display, 100 pairs were designated and marked, by a group of long time AF1 aficionados including DJ Clark Kent, DJ EMZ, Udi Avshalom (Training Camp), and Bobbito Garcia, as the top 100 pairs of AF1s ever created. These top 100 pairs, which included Mitas, Playstations, Mark Smith Lasers, World Cups, Stash AF1 Highs, HTMs and many more, were then voted on by the 400+ attendees with the purpose of crowning the #1 Nike Air Force 1 of all time. After all the votes were tallied, the Stash Air Force 1 High was officially crowned the #1 Air Force 1 of all time. As part of its title win, Nike will reproduce 400+ pairs of the Stash AF1 to be given to the “One Night Only Celebration” attendees.

In the midst of the extravaganza that surrounded us, we were able to snap a number of the Air Force 1s on display that night. Click continue reading for the pix.

Last week KATC ventured out of NYC on a cross country field trip to California. In addition to looking forward to the 85+ degree weather, we also sought to learn more about sneaker culture on the West Coast. Our first stop out West lead us to the DunkxChange LA/Anaheim held at the House of Blues Disney Land. After two stops in NYC, the DXC was back in its hometown where the event consistently attracts a large crowd of eager sneaker enthusiasts. A bit different than the NYC DXCs, KATC was on hand to snap several pix, as well as, get a good look into “So. Cal’s” sneaker culture.

KATC Feature: Ari Lankin x Adidas Adicolor High katc features

In keeping with the theme of designing/coloring your own kix with the launch of their Adicolor project back in March, Adidas created a design contest whereby artists would utilize a blank Adicolor High and the Adicolor marker/paint set to create an original sneaker design in hopes of becoming the next Adicolor Partner (collaborator). After the votes from an open public pole on the Adicolor website were tallied, the design submitted by artist Ari Lankin of NYC was declared the winner, garnering over 12,000 votes. As the last Adicolor Partner, Ari’s design has made its way onto 25 Adicolor Highs set to release TOMORROW, Oct. 28th, at the Adidas Originals Store in NYC. On the eve of their release, KATC caught up with Ari Lankin to ask him a couple of questions about his Adicolor High.
