Last week, I got the chance to sit down with Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith at the Jordan Brand Silver Anniversary Air Jordan 2010 Press Event in order to get a full detailed technological breakdown of the Air Jordan 2010. Alpha Air Jordan 1

Jordan Brand is set to introduce the Alpha Air Jordan 1 during the Spring of 2010. The Alpha Air Jordan 1 represents the celebration of the Air Jordan legacy by re-engineering the Air Jordan 1 to meet the demands of today's athlete by incorporating today's technology all, in a familiar and timeless silhouette. From a technological point of view, the Alpha Air Jordan 1 features full length bottom loaded Nike Zoom Air, a full length Phylon midsole that is cored out to reduce weight, a "no-sew" upper constructed upper, a perforated toebox and midpanel, and a zoned comfort lining. From a aesthetic point of view, the Alpha Air Jordan 1 obviously borrows heavily from the Air Jordan 1. Much of the original classic lines remain the same. Air Jordan 2010 | Detailed Look

Continuing my coverage of the Air Jordan 2010, we take a very detailed look at the Silver Anniversary 25th Air Jordan signature sneaker. The Air Jordan 2010 is a product of a three-headed collaborative process between Tinker Hatfield, Mark Smith, and the man himself, Michael Jordan. The design process started out with a conversation betweem Tinker and MJ. In this conversation, Michael told Tinker that he used to look through his opponent while showing his opponent only portions of his game at strategic points. He asked Tinker if the Air Jordan 2010 could somehow show this portion of his game, from this, the "Transparency" was born. The "Transparency" piece of the Air Jordan 2010 is the most noticeable design component of the Air Jordan 2010. The piece itself is a TPU window that serves also as a functional piece that helps to shed weight, while also helping to wrap closer to the foot when the sneaker is laced. According to Tinker, the Air Jordan 2010 weighs in at around 15oz. The other main technological advancement is the vamp (toebox). The vamp is an actual overlay on top of the toebox. The overlay allows for the foot to flex underneath it. The mechanism allows for maximum supportive flexibility. The Air Jordan 2010 also feature full length Nike Zoom Air and a double stacked Zoom Air in the heel unit. From an aesthetics/materials standpoint, behind the transparent window, the Air Jordan 2010 features a mix of perforated White leather, Black textured leather, and Black nubuck. Also, the way the footbed wraps around the foot, a hint of Carolina Blue will always be shown through the medial side of the transparent TPU window. The tongue is sloped to wrap around the foot better on the medial side and the tongues feature an embroidered "23" and an Jumpman. The midsole is layered in White and Red and the sneaker sits on a Black outsole. The Air Jordan 2010 is set to release on February 13 at a retail of $170. One of the most beloved Air Jordans of all time, the Air Jordan VI is set to retro in 2010 after a long hiatus (not counting the packaged VIs). Several colorways of the VI are set to hit retail including the Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VI. The Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VI is features a Black nubuck upper with Red accents. Though it's not the legendary Black/Infrared VI, the Black/Red Air Jordan Retro VI comes in a classic Bulls colorway and could have easily been an OG colorway. During the 1997 Finals against the Utah Jazz, Michael Jordan was overcome with Flu-like symptoms. Despite his illness, he calmly went out and willed his team to a 90-87 win in a game that many will say, considering his condition, was the best that he ever played. To play homage to Michael Jordan's performance in the "Flu Game", Jordan Brand is set to release the "Flu Game" Air Jordan Retro XII. A twist of the classic Black/Red Air Jordan XII that he wore during that game, the "Flu Game" Air Jordan Retro XII features a Black nubuck upper sitting on a Red midsole/sole with Red accents. In a nod to the "Flu Game", to tongue and the outer heel feature graphics of a sick face and "97" "38" for the year and the amount of points MJ dropped that night. Slightly different from the original Gucci's that a lucky few got their hands on back in 2005, the new 2009 samples feature a tighter denim trim and a Red heel tab instead of a Black one. The Air Jordan Retro V love for 2009 didn't stop with last weekend's release of the Toro Bravo Package. Next month, Jordan Brand is set to release the Dark Army Air Jordan Retro V. A first for the Air Jordan V, the Dark Army Air Jordan Retro V features a full White patent leather upper. The White patent is accented with Dark Cinder contrast stitching. The Dark Army Air Jordan Retro V also features a Dark Cinder tongue with a Del Sol Jumpman. The inner lining features the Laser Air Jordan Retro V print and the upper sits on a Dark Army midsole and Del Sol outsole.
