The first of 20 Adidas GIL II ZEROs set to release through 2007/2008, the “cust0mize” Adidas GIL II ZERO hit the retail shelves of large chain retailers, yesterday, Nov 23rd. Part of the “Elite” Series of GIL II ZEROs (the G2Zs fit into three release categories Underground, Elite, and Preferred), the dry erase upper “cust0mize” GIL II Zeros are inspired by Gil’s “Impossible is Nothing” story where he explains that he was “doubted by players, coaches and the media. He assumed the number Zero to call out all the doubters”, and, his love for writing inspirational messages on his own sneakers. The “cust0mizes” re-writeable upper and packaged Adidas/Gil branded dry erase marker encourages the wearer to tell their own story and write their own inspirational messages. In addition to the dry erase upper, the “cust0mize” G2Z features a self portrait of GIL on the lateral heel.
Technologically, the Adidas GIL II ZERO features:
* The Select System insole technology. This technology allows the player to customize their shoe to their individual needs with the choice between a ClimaCool insole, for temperature control, and an adiPRENE insole for added cushioning.
* ClimaCool 360 ventilation technology allows the footwear to collect slow-moving air surrounding the shoe during play and conducts it through aerodynamically optimized air channels to give the maximum air velocity to help cool the foot.
* adiPRENE is a high shock-absorbent material that cushions and protects the foot during high impact playing.
3000 pairs of “cust0mize” Adidas GIL II ZERO along with the [“Home”] and [“Away”] TS Lightswitch GILs are available now at large chain retailers for a retail of $90.
