Dwyane Wade and his Miami Heat are officially set to open the 2007/2008 NBA Season at home on Nov. 1st against the Detroit Pistons. Coming into his 5th year in the league, Wade is looking to improve upon last season’s injury shortened and disappointing year. Drawing inspiration from the importance of the number 3 in his life, Wade will take on the challenge of 07/08 season wearing the Converse WADE 3. The Converse WADE 3 was designed to embody the number 3 and pay homage to it’s reoccurring meaning in Wade’s life. Beyond the fact that Wade wears the number 3 on his jersey, the number has roots in his faith and has become common thread in his life including, his dribbling 3 times before every foul shot, leading his Marquette team to the 2003 Final Four, joining the Miami Heat in 2003, winning the NBA championship and Finals MVP in the third year of his career, holding the third highest scoring average in NBA Finals history, and being a 3 time All-Star.
With this in mind, the WADE 3 was designed around the three sided Triangle. There are 33 Triangles on the WADE 3, including the Triangle spine and the 6 Triangles on the sole, 3 of which are hollowed out to lessen the weight of the sneaker. The WADE 3 also features triple stitching, three colors (in this case Black/Red/White), three materials (in this case Leather/Nubuck/and Triangular Mesh patches), and three different thicknesses. The Triangular tongue features a velcro closure to hide lace ends.
In addition to the triangular inspiration, the WADE 3 features a low profile foam midsole, a maximum support lacing system, Wade’s name on the upper ankle, and the Converse One Star logo at the outer heel.
The Black/Red Converse WADE 3 is available now at retailers across the country for a retail of $100.
