For the first time in years, the Air Jordan Retro VI is set to hit the market (unpackaged). As part of Jordan Brand's Air Jordan Retro VI releases, JB is set to release the Black/Varsity Red Air Jordan Retro VI. A play on the OG classic Infrared Air Jordan VI, the Black/Varsity Red Air Jordan Retro VI features a Black nubuck upper with Varsity Red accents.

MY MANS FROM VIRGINIA BEACH GETS HIS HANDS ON ALOT SAMPLES MONTHS BEFORE THEY COME OUT. AND FROM WHAT HE'S HEARD SO FAR IS THAT THE MATERIAL ON THESE ARE HORRIBLE JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER RETRO J'S THAT HAVE BEEN RELEASED FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS. JB NEEDS TO STOP BEING SO CHEAP WITH THERE PRODUCT MATERIAL IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE CHARGING SO MUCH THEY SHULD LIVE UP TO THEIR PART AND INVEST IN GOOD MATERIAL AND NOT THAT BULLSHIT RECYCLE MATERIAL. I kind of agree with Jeff. These look like they'll lose the crispness of the suede really quickly. Still, this is probably as close to a infrared release as we'll ever get.
I don't care if these were infrareds or not, there still on my list and the white/black pair.
Yes the material look wierd but nothing that i good nubuck cleaner,protector and good care would do ok.JB would not used good material because after all we complain we still go camp out and coop them...Where is the Jumpman in the back ? it is black ?
I agree this is the closest thing we are gonna acutally get to an infared, at the same time they must do this, re-release it with some kind of variation so the model itself "infared" doesn't loose its value . . . .
n yes there's a jordan logo in black on the back of the shoes its kinda like the size of the dmp but not as big as the carmine logo

on second thought I'm not coppin these. if they don't change the upper back to nubuck from suede, make the outsole clear instead of white, and make the accents infrared, I'm not coppin. the ogs came out in '91, they retro the infrareds in '00, now its ten yrs later and a lot of new heads is in the game and we want the good sh*t too..

not feelin em. the nubuck looks too suedish. varsity red instead of infrared. soles look white, not clear. its like a bad knock off u'd find at a hood store.

I hated the infrared back then. I don't dislike it as much now, but I still don't want to wear infrared. Why Nike decided to set that kind of precedent on the VI is beyond me. Now they're having to release an altered version to get people to buy it b/c most guys don't want day-glo red on their shoes. I still want to see this shoe released with dark red accents. I'll probably never see it.
Nubuck used to be wonderful. Then I saw way too much of it and began detesting it. Now I'm in the mood for it again. Weird.
I bought this shoe the day it dropped, wore it and decided I didn't like it. Why? The infrared accents. Just a bad idea.
I may revisit this shoe in 2010. I may not. Not a bad idea to release it. I'm usually a stickler for historic accuracy on shoes (with materials, tongue tags and other details that Nike likes to tweak [For instance, I despise Jumpmen on Air Jordan I heel counters. I wish the IIs would release with the original rubber compound Nike experimented with in 1987. I want everything exactly as it was in the past.] ) But the VI is one Jordan that I don't feel too passionate about as far as seeing in its original form again. The infrared angle is not iconic at all, more like a disaster ... to this day a colossal disaster. Nike and Michael Jordan should have never done it.

If you look at mj's feet during that season, they look was less infrared and more varsity red. The white colorway was clearly infra. Can anyone confirm?

Gotta agree wit scooter. Nike owned the word infared. Same as the nike air that used to be on the back of the shoe is replaced by the jumpman logo. They did the same thing to the 3's and 4's. The og's had nike air on the back. I wud definately cop these jus because these are one of my favorite j's alltime. The Best Jordan shoe is about to drop November 27th. Space Jam 11's. Hands down the best jordan shoe ever created. (Best Colorway- Cool Grey) Please bring back the cool grey.
