Active has come together with “seven of the most recognized footwear brands in skateboarding” (eS, Emerica, Lakai, Vans, Nike SB, DVS, and DC) to create the “Drop Sneakers Not Bombs” Collection, a collection of footwear inspired by enacting positive social change.
“An Active exclusive footwear collection – the first of many to come. A collaboration with seven of the most recognized footwear brands in skateboarding. Founded upon a hope to generate some positive energy in our little corner of the world. Indirectly shedding light on one of many world issues that we all can do our part to help remedy, by showcasing something as simple as sneakers. We trust that the work of these seven brands will inspire anyone, no matter how few, to look to affect positive change in their own way, home or abroad. A portion of the proceeds from Drop Sneakers Not Bombs will go to Invisible Children, a non-profit organization which has sprung from a captivating documentary film created by three San Diego natives. The film exposes some violent and horrible truths about a civil war in Uganda, and the way in which it is especially destroying the lives of the children of that fractured nation. Active sought the help of street artist, Shepard Fairey, to contribute to the collection’s artistic direction. We hope you enjoy the first installment of Drop Sneakers Not Bombs. Limited does not begin to describe it.”
The collection is set to release on 7/7/7 at the new Active Location in Long Beach, CA. After it’s initial release, the collection will be available at all Active stores and on Active Mail Order.
Up to this point, the LAKAI, EMERICA (pictured above), DVS, and Vans sneakers have been revealed.
