Nike Air Pippen 1 Retro Detailed Look

Nike Air Pippen II Retro Detailed Look

Though the "Black/Red" Nike Air Pippen 1 Retro [hit the shelves at select Foot Lockers prematurely], the classic Pip sneaker is officially set to release on 8/23 (but you will see it early again, of course). True to the OG, the "Black/Red" Nike Air Pippen 1 Retro features a Black durabuck upper, a White midsole, and Red accents. Beyond the material usage and colorblocking and unlike several retros from Nike including the ATC, the "Black/Red" Nike Air Pippen 1 Retro features the Pipen logo on the tongue and heel.

The "Black/Red" Nike Air Pippen 1 Retro is officially set to release on 8/23 at select Nike accounts.

    Jath says:

Uh, these are not the Pippen 2s. They're actually the Pippen 1s.

A fun fact about these is is that Scottie himself HATED the shoe. He felt they were too busy (check the simple classic design of the actual Pippen 2s), and was not a fan of the bulkiness or weight of the Air Max bubble.

If you look closely at pictures from the finals, Scottie's PEs actually do NOT have the Max air, but a (non-visible) Zoom Air bottom, while the general release Pips that Toni Kukoc as well as the NBC cameraman feature the Max bubble.. which of course, is probably the aesthetic reason most collectors will rush out to grab these..

Impressive sneaker knowledge Jath. I wondered if anyone out there knew that. Hey biggrizzly, you're here in Houston, did you check out the Sneaker Summit at the Meridian a couple weeks back? I saw a guy there rocking the Air McFly's - not the Hyperdunk McFly's but the ACTUAL (well, reproduction) Air McFly's from BTTF 2. He said he bought them off Ebay for a grip. Some sort of custom job...
