Nike Foamposite Lite to Release Spring 2009

Nike Foamposite Lite to Release Spring 2009

Once considered the pinnacle in Basketball upper construction, Nike's Foamposite technology, made popular by a young Penny Hardaway, has through the years become more and more of a casual sneaker technology than a hoop sneaker technolgy. Loved in the DMV and New York, Nike's Foamposite line gets more run in the streets, than on the court. Replaced by lighter leathers, mesh, TPU, etc. Foamposite, like the upcoming Nike Flywire, still serves as a historical landmark in upper construction.

The biggest knock against Foamposite has always been it's heavy weight. The technology's most recent incarnation, the Nike Zoom LeBron IV, proved to be extremely heavy much like the Foamposite One, Foamposite Pro, Flightposte, Proposite, etc. before it. Perhaps recognizing the love for the technology and the need to improve on it's weight, Nike is set to release the Nike Foamposite Lite. The Nike Foamposite Lite appears to be combine the design characteristics of the Foamposite One and the Flightposite while adding Nike's Zoom Air technology.

The Nike Foamposite Lite is set to release during the Spring of 2009.

what would be really cool is to use flywire for the majority of the upper with foamposite in select areas where maximum support is desired.
